Chestnut Tree House column: Calling All Heroes

Next week (13 – 20 June) is Children’s Hospice Week, the UK’s only awareness raising and fundraising week for children with life-limiting conditions and the services that support them.

This year’s Children’s Hospice Week will focus on the incredible round-the-clock care provided to seriously ill children by families, professionals, children’s hospices and services across the UK.

Children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions often have complex needs that require care 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This can put enormous pressure on families, carers and siblings, but Chestnut Tree House is there to help.

We provide a whole range of services: short breaks, emergency and respite care, day care, end-of-life care and ongoing support for families. All of these services are offered at the hospice itself and out in the community and provide a vital lifeline to families.

It’s not too late to get involved. The grand finale of Children’s Hospice week is Hero Friday so why not ask friends or colleagues to sponsor you to dress as a hero for the day? How about a fancy dress competition in the office?

Whoever your hero is – from Becks to Batman – wear your costume with pride next Friday and spread the word about Chestnut Tree House.
