Author Simon Parke from Seaford

Simon Parke tells the story of King Charles I and his extraordinary year-long imprisonment on the Isle of Wight, Robert Hammond, his gaoler, the king’s mistress, Jane Whorwood, and Oliver Cromwell.

Critics have described the paperback book as smart, deft and readable.

Simon is a former scriptwriter for television’s Spitting Image. He is the author of the Abbot Peter murder mystery series and away from publishing is the CEO of The Mind Clinic and a long-distance runner.

The book is published by Marylebone House and is priced at £8.99.

A publishing spokesperson said, “In this brilliantly atmospheric novel, Simon explores one of the most gripping tales in English history weaving together coinciding stories.”
