If you’re thinking of taking rubbish to the tip in the next week or two, new winter opening hours will apply to certain sites in the area.
While the hours at Eastbourne’s household waste recycling site in St Philips Avenue remain unchanged, sites at Hailsham and Seaford will operate new hours to take winter daylight hours into account.
From October 1, Hailsham’s household waste recycling site in Station Road will open 8am to 4pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 1pm on Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays, excluding Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, when the site will be closed.
From October 6, the Seaford site off Cradle Hill Road will be open on Friday and Saturday, from 8am to 4pm and on Sunday from 9am unti 4pm. This site will be closed from Monday to Thursday, and the nearest alternative is in Newhaven’s New Road. The Newhaven household waste recycling site is open Monday to Saturday from 8am to 4pm and on Sundays from 9am until 4pm.
Martin Benson, HWRS manager for operator Veolia, said, “We would urge people to visit our website at www.veoliaenvironmentalservices.co.uk/hwrs or call 08453 550550 to see what winterhours their local site will be operating.”
