It is not known at this time what the space will become, but a number of new retail units are planned as part of the refurbishment.

Work started this year on a number of improvements to the station – including a new entrance, toilet facilities, and waiting room.

The toilets have been moved to behind the barriers for paying customers only, while the key cutting and shoe repairs shop has been moved to the far side of the station, near Subway.

The side entrance next to W H Smith closed as part of these works, much to some passengers’ dismay.
