New music festival for Eastbourne

The council is calling upon all Eastbourne music venues, local bands and talented musicians to take part in a new week-long music festival from July 13-19.

Music Live will be a week-long eclectic mix of live music performances in venues across the town, allowing local musicians to showcase their talent, as part of the three-week Eastbourne Festival in July, which celebrates both traditional and contemporary arts, from music and literature to dance, comedy and film.

The music festival will have multiple performances throughout the July 2015, with afternoon and evening performances scheduled, as well as some pop-up performances at surprise locations around the town.

The event will be working with partner organisations, including the Eastbourne Hospitality Association, Town Team and the Chamber of Commerce to bring this new event to Eastbourne’s busy summer events programme.

Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Member for Tourism, Leisure and Sports Services Cllr Carolyn Heaps said “Eastbourne Borough Council is very happy to be involved in the well-established Eastbourne Festival, taking place throughout July.

“Music Live will build into the big celebration of live performance, providing an opportunity for live musical acts to be recognised in Eastbourne.”

The Eastbourne Borough Council Events team is seeking out established venues with suitable live-performance facilities, who wish to take part.

Anyone wishing to take part in Music Live in July should contact the Eastbourne Borough Council Events Team on or call 01323 415442.
