New chairman of hospitality association

Darren Weir owner of the Mowbray Hotel, has been elected as chairman of the Eastbourne Hospitality Association.

The EHA represents around 200 local hotels, guesthouses, self-catering establishments and traders in Eastbourne.

Darren takes over from Jerome Farrow, who stood down at the EHA AGM. Edward Lewis, the longest standing member of the EHA executive who served for more than 25 years, also retired.

Jerome thanked the executive and members for their support throughout his term and hoped they would continue to offer the same support to the new chairman – and was thanked by Darren for all his work over the last two years.

Darren also announced his 90-day plan of action which involves an updating of the EHA website and developing and enhancing new members’ experience as well as improved communication for existing members and holding a drop-in session for members. The EHA will also be creating a ‘discount passport’ to visitors staying in town.

“Local restaurants and bars should be keen to get on board with this scheme as it will widen their reach and give them access to EHA membership and the benefits that brings,” he added. “This is going to be a very busy ninety days never mind two years!”
