Nando’s is the first restaurant to sign up for the £85 million extension to the Eastbourne Arndale Centre.
The popular restaurant chain will be one of seven restaurants that will open on the same floor as the multi-screen digital cinema.
The announcement by Legal & General Property, owners of the Arndale Centre, follows the news that Next, H & M and Cineworld have also been signed up for the 170,000 sq ft scheme that will contain an additional 22 retail units.
Neil Crawford, Retail Development Manager at Legal & General Property, said: “It is great news for the extension, and for the town generally, that Nando’s has signed up. It’s a hugely popular restaurant that will really complement the local eating experience. We will be announcing more great restaurant names over the coming months, so watch this space.”
Eastbourne MP Stephen Lloyd added: “I am absolutely delighted to hear the popular restaurant chain Nando’s has confirmed they will be moving into the new Arndale Centre as part of the regeneration. I have been contacted by numerous young people over the last 18 months or so lobbying for Eastbourne to get a Nando’s in the new shopping centre so to hear this is a done deal is tremendous.”
Work will begin later this year on upgrading the west entrance of the shopping centre to create a contemporary glass design in keeping with the style of the extension that is expected to be completed in 2018.
