Local MP Caroline Ansell spent some time with physiotherapists at Eastbourne DGH to see the wide range of support they provide for patients.
Caroline visited the physiotherapy out patients department, saw the rehabilitation gym where were people with long term neurological problems such as multiple sclerosis were undertaking exercises.
She also visited the hydrotherapy pool where physiotherapists take advantage of the physical properties of water, such as temperature and pressure, for therapeutic purposes to offer pain relief and treatment. Mrs Ansell was told physiotherapists work across most hospital services to support the care and rehabilitation of patients.
Helen Harper-Smith, clinical specialist physiotherapist, said, “It was good to be able to show Caroline the wide range of essential work physiotherapists play in caring for patients. As a physiotherapist myself, I find it so rewarding to help people recover and improve their health and wellbeing.”
Mrs Ansell said it was ‘fantastic’ to see the work being done.
