MP’s last call for fast train letters

The town’s MP is making a last call for residents to send in letters of support for a fast train between Eastbourne and London.

Stephen Lloyd has stepped up his campaign for the scheme to be included in the upcoming Southern/Thameslink franchise. His call for letters has received a good response and he is now making one final push before they are sent off to the Department of Transport (DFTs) in a few week’s time.

Following the town’s submission to the DFT’s consultation, Mr Lloyd met with all the bidding companies to emphasise the benefits a fast train would bring to them and Eastbourne.

Now that the offers are all in, the decision rests with the DFT, and the politician said he will be sending all the town’s letters of support to ensure Eastbourne’s voice is heard.

Letters can be emailed to: or posted to the MP’s office at 100 Seaside Road, Eastbourne.
