The record-breaking David Lloyd ‘Mini’ girls graced the red carpet at the launch of the Guinness World Records 2014 annual in London last week.
The 27 women from the gym in Hampden Park are featured in this year’s issue of the iconic book after setting records for the number of people you can squeeze into a Mini, and so were invited to host the red carpet, welcoming guests and celebrities to the event last Tuesday.
As well as performing their own stunts, some of the team took part in other world record attempts, including how many people can kiss a snake in a minute.
Despite that scaly encounter, organiser Dani Maynard insists the group had a brilliant time, saying, “We all really enjoyed it. So much has happened since we broke the records, it’s just snowballed and we’ve been really lucky.
“We were on television a couple of weeks ago in I Love My Country and the launch event was a really nice way to finish it all off.”
As well as appearing on the BBC1 TV show, Dani’s been busy entertaining the airwaves on Radio Sussex and Surrey, promoting the Guinness World Records 2014 book alongside the company’s chief executive .
The excitement doesn’t stop there, though, for the group are eyeing up another world record attempt but this time, in front of 10,000 people.
Currently, they hold the record for squeezing 23 people into a Mini Classic but will try for 25 at the London to Brighton Mini run next June.
Dani added, “We’re comfortable with how to organise it all now and with the experience we’ve gained, I’m confident we’ll be able to do it.”
