A memorial will be held in Eastbourne, for Geoffrey Pygall, who died aged 87 on New Year’s Eve.
Geoffrey was born on October 26 1927 in South Street, Eastbourne, and he went to St Mary’s Boy School and then Eastbourne Grammar School. After starting work early, at the age of 14, his career took off, climbing up the ladder to become a managing director of a national company.
“He was a very successful Eastbourne man,” said his niece Beverley Potter. “He made a really good success of his life.”
Geoffrey became managing director of Pickfords. He married Lillian, his ‘beloved’ late wife in April 1957. After a successful career the pair retired to the coast, in Brighton, and were involved in charity work with the NFC Trust and The Royal Variety Club, until Lillian’s death in 1999. Geoffrey carried on with charity work after becoming a widower, until his health declined. He died at Hinchingbrooke Hospital in Cambridgeshire on December 31, 2014.
Any old friends of Geoffrey are welcome to attend the funeral service at All Saints Church, on Grange Road, Eastbourne, from at 1.30pm on January 27.
This will be followed by a private family cremation.
