Following the successful Meads Magic event in 2012, Friday November 29 sees Meads Street come alive for a pre-Christmas entertainment showcase.

Kicking off at 3.30pm, there will be a performance by St John’s School Choir prior to the turning on of the Christmas Lights. With St Andrew’s and Moira House School also offering festive singing, there will also be a Meads Market offering shoppers looking for that special Christmas gift a variety of crafts and seasonal goodies. Hot food will be available from local pubs and restaurants and many of the Meads Street traders will be open for business during the evening. There will be magical fun for the children including Santa’s Grotto, a Punch and Judy Show, the Lapland Post Office, Gingerbread Decorating and more. The Meads Stage will come alive to the Vintage Hot Five Jazz Band from 5.15pm.

With Meads Street closed for the event, staff of Bede’s School are running a minibus service to and from the rear of the Towner, close to College Road pay and display car park. Two routes will be operated from College Road, Brighton University Bus Stop, Carlisle Road, Moira House, Carlisle Road, Salisbury Road/Cranbourne Avenue Triangle and All Saints Church Grange Road, Silverdale/Granville Road junction, St John’s Church, St Johns Road both terminating at the All Saints’ bus stop in Darley Road.

The event has been organised by Meads Traders and Mothers of Meads Association and supported by the Eastbourne borough councillors for Meads ward.

Councillor Caroline Ansell said, “The community of Meads has really come together to organise a seasonal event to provide fun for all. We’re very excited to build on the 2012 event and invite everyone to kick start Christmastime in Meads.”
