A new creative learning centre opens in South Street, Eastbourne, on February 25

The Mayor of Eastbourne, Mike Thompson, will open the new South Street Art Studios on Tuesday, February 25.

The studios have been designed as a new creative hub for Eastbourne and offer drawing, painting and photography courses for all ages and abilities.

The premises are situated in South Street where a Victorian stableyard has been converted into two fully-equipped art studios.

Large windows let plenty of light into the studios which face on to a small courtyard – a perfect spot for a coffee break and talking about your latest work of art.

Both studios have large TV monitors which allow students to view demonstrations given by the tutors.

All art courses are designed to be relaxed and friendly and are set out in a clear step-by-step way, helping students get the very best instruction from the experienced and professional tutors.

As well as a gallery for artists to exhibit their work there is also a small library where students can borrow books.

The studio will be offering day and evening classes on a weekly basis with additional weekend workshops throughout the year.

Tutor, Adrian Burrows says, “We are sure South Street Art Studios is going to be a vibrant centre for the creative arts and we intend to add more courses as we grow.

“This could include creative writing, so if there’s anyone interested in running such a course please contact us.”

The ‘Open Day’ is free to everyone and South Street Art Studios would be delighted to see you. There are refreshments on hand and the tutors would be glad to give details about the courses.

The Open Day starts at 2.30pm with an official opening by the Mayor of Eastbourne then continues until 9pm.
