MINIATURE railway enthusiasts have officially opened a new station at their track.
Members of Polegate and District Model Engineering Club (PADMEC) were joined by the mayor of Polegate, Councillor Malcolm Cunningham, at a ribbon cutting event earlier this month.
The club has been running since 1970 and has come a long way since its fledgling days of taking steam trains out to village fetes on a portable track.
The PADMEC eventually established itself at Pevensey Bay Caravan Park but then moved to its current home in William Daily Recreation Ground in 1984.
And now the group’s trains have an extra station to call at after the Polegate Oaks stop was unveiled in front of local youngsters, model railway fans and even a bagpipe playing Scot’s guard.
For more information on the group and the track itself, visit www.padmec.org.uk or call 07528480371.
New members are always welcome.
