Man taken to hospital after A22 crash

Emergency services were called at 7.10am this morning (May 15), after a car left the road on the northbound A22 at East Hoathly and hit a tree.

The man driving the car, who was the sole occupant, was taken by air ambulance to the Royal Sussex County Hospital and an assessment of his condition has not yet been received.

Firefighters had to cut the man out of is car, before he was airlifted to hospital.

The road was closed in both directions but opened by 9.30am.

The accident caused long delays this morning, affecting traffic heading towards and out of Eastbourne and Hailsham.
