Man arrested in connection with knifepoint robbery in Eastbourne


A man who was wanted by police in connection with a knifepoint robbery has been arrested.

Steven Stewart, 30, was arrested on Tuesday (May 19) at Allestree in Derbyshire by officers carrying out stop-checks in the area.

Stewart, of no fixed address, has now been charged with a robbery in Great Cliffe Road, Eastbourne, on April 28, possession of a knife in a public place, attempted burglary and driving while disqualified.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on May 21. In court he was further remanded in custody to appear at Lewes Crown Court on June 11.
