Man arrested for drink-driving after fleeing Eastbourne crash

An Eastbourne man has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving after he fled the scene of a crash on the seafront on Wednesday night (February 17).

The 56-year-old man, who was driving a black Nissan Juke car, crashed into a parked van on the junction of Royal Parade and Desmond Road at around 8.30pm.

He was unhurt and left the scene on foot but was found nearby and detained by police officers.

He has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving and bailed until April 4 pending further enquiries.
