Man appears in court in connection with incident that left Eastbourne woman seriously injured after motorcycle collision

A man has appeared in court in connection with an incident that left an Eastbourne woman seriously injured following a collision with a motorcycle.

The 20-year-old was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton following the incident in Hastings in the early hours of Sunday (November 24) morning and a number of roads in the town centre remained closed for a period of time while police carried out investigations.

Police described her condition as serious but stable on the Sunday morning and yesterday (Thursday) said she was set to be discharged from hospital.

On Monday (November 25) this week Michail Mouratidis, of Holmesdale Gardens, Hastings, appeared at Brighton Magistrates Court charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving and GBH with intent.

No pleas were entered and the next hearing is due to take place on Friday December 13 at Lewes Crown Court.

The 43-year-old was remanded in custody.
