Magnificent Motors returns for weekend

Magnificent Motors returns to Eastbourne on May 4-5 with an anniversary display of more than a century of motoring.

Returning to the show’s original seafront venue after two years in Princes Park, the Western Lawns will welcome back over 600 vintage and classic cars, motorbikes, buses and more at the two-day festival.

Each day starts with a cavalcade of 400 motors and attractions include live entertainment, fairground rides and drive-in movie showing The Italian Job,

Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Member for Tourism and Leisure, Cllr Carolyn Heaps said “This is going to be a fantastic celebratory year for Magnificent Motors and with an extra day of cavalcades and a new drive-in movie night, we could be all set for the busiest year yet!”

The festival, which is jointly organised by Eastbourne Borough Council, Eastbourne Historic Vehicle Club and East Sussex Omnibus Society, regularly attracts more than 600 classic and vintage vehicles, including cars, motorbikes, scooters, buses, military and commercial vehicles.

Other attractions include a continental market, The Italian Job showing as a drive-in movie and music from performers including Michael Hinch, Natterjack, Martyn Wong and Tim Joss, Tourle Brothers, Dirty Martini Swing, Audio 6, Faye and Ben, Dub N Tuff Allstars, Jack and Josh and Cold Shot, along with the return of old favourites like Lone Star Club with their fantastic collection of American classics.

Tickets for the drive in movie can be bought at Eastbourne theatres box office and are £15 per car, passenger numbers not to exceed seatbelts. Walk in tickets are £5 for adults and £3 for children. Doors open at 6.30pm for a 7.30pm showing of the film on Saturday May 4.
