July 27:

Matthew Smith, 37, of Lindfield Drive, Hailsham, pleaded guilty to being in breach of a court restraining order. The offence took place between May 5 and May 7. He was given a two year conditional discharge and ordered to pay £200 in prosecution costs.

July 31:

John Rosetti, 56, of no fixed address, indicated a plea of guilty to three charges of harassment and being in breach of a court restraining order by visiting a property at Clarence Road, Eastbourne. The offences took place from July 27 - July 29 an occurred when a community order was already in place for eight breaches of a non-molestation order and three offences of criminal damage. He was sentenced to a total of 26 weeks in prison. Magistrates said the reason for the custodial sentence was because of persistent breaches of the order and the fact that it has caused ‘significant psychological harm’ to the victim.

Lisa Chapman, 48, of Osborne Road, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to driving a Kia vehicle on Broomfield Street, Eastbourne, on July 19, while more than four times over the drink drive limit. She gave a breath alcohol reading of 156 micrograms. The legal limit is 35 micrograms. The court made a community order with a requirement of 300 hours of unpaid work and banned her from driving for three years.

Peter Reville, 56, of New Road, Hailsham, pleaded guilty to driving a Ford Focus, on New Road, Hellingly, on July 24, while over the drink drive limit. He gave a breath alcohol reading of 68 micrograms. The legal limit is 35 micrograms. He was fined £500 and banned from driving for 17 months.

Sean Fisher, 28, of Seaside Road, Eastbourne, indicated a plea of guilty to being in possession of a quantity of cannabis at Royal Parade, Eastbourne, on July 17. He also pleaded guilty to failing to surrender to custody at Hastings Magistrates Court on August 1. He was fined £333.

August 9:

Freddie Aguis, 26, of Penshurst Road, Hackney, London, was found guilty of driving a BMW on Hailsham Road, Polegate, on February 19 with cannabis in his blood stream. He was fined £120 and ordered to pay £620 in prosecution costs. He was banned from driving for one year.

Brandon Smith, 18, of Sir Evelyn Road, Rochester, Kent, pleaded guilty to stealing a black leather wallet, worth £16. The offence took place at Eastbourne, on December 13 last year. He was given a one year conditional discharge.

Christopher Sherwood, 31, of Broderick Road, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman by beating her. The offence took place at Eastbourne on July 8. He was sentenced to 17 weeks in prison. Magistrates said the reason for the custodial sentence was due to the seriousness of the assault on a vulnerable victim and that it involved a ‘sustained and unpleasant biting incident’.

August 14:

Jack Batchelor, 20, of Ashley Gardens, Hailsham, pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman by beating her. The offence took place at Hellingly, Hailsham, on May 15 this year. He was given a one year conditional discharge.

August 15:

Katie Atkins, 30, of Liphook Road, Bordon, Hampshire, pleaded guilty to failing to provide a specimen of blood for analysis when required by police to do so under the Road Traffic Act 1988. The offence took place at Eastbourne on July 28. Sentencing was adjourned until August 31 for pre-sentence reports to be prepared. Magistrates made an interim driving ban and released her on unconditional bail.
