Seven friends from Eastbourne, Hailsham and the surrounding areas took part in the Challenge Cancer London to Brighton Moon Ride last month and raised more than £5,000 for various cancer charities.
Team leader Graeme Hogg was diagnosed with cancer in December last year and began intensive chemotherapy and radiotherapy until being given the all clear in June.
The team, nicknamed Hoggy’s Heroes, started training in April to take on the challenge of the 100km night ride which started at Smithfield’s Market in London and finished at Hove Park School.
Eastbourne-based Lisa Pickard, who did the ride with husband Ian, said, “I hadn’t done anything like it before and really enjoyed the training and build up to the event. It was hard cycling through the night and very cold but everyone was so supportive we just kept going.”
The team would like to thank everyone who gave them encouragement and support on their Just Giving pages.
The overall event organised by Action Challenge raised over £500,000 in total.
