Eastbourne’s all-weather lifeboat was launched to assist a fisherman after the engine failed on his boat yesterday (Monday, July 27).
Dover Coastguard requested the launch of Eastbourne lifeboat when the lone fisherman in his 24ft cruiser reported he was having difficulties six miles offshore near the Sovereign Light Tower.
The vessel’s engine had failed and it was drifting uncontrolled in the tide.
Eastbourne lifeboat was quickly on scene and a tow was secured by the volunteer crew.
The boat was taken to the safety of the locks at Sovereign Harbour.
