Eastbourne all-weather lifeboat was called out to help a sports cruiser which had suffered engine failure on Wednesday evening (July 29).

The cruiser was reported as being five miles from Sovereign Harbour with four people on board when it suffered a fuel supply problem.

Unable to anchor, the inexperienced crew called on Dover Coastguard for help.

The volunteer crew from Eastbourne lifeboat were assembled and were soon leaving harbour.

The stricken vessel was taken under tow and delivered to the safety of the marina locks.
