Campaigners behind a fundraising appeal to save the Leaf Hall Community Arts Centre from closure have unveiled a list of events for this month in a bid to boost the coffers.

Around £30,000 is needed to carry out essential repairs at the Seaside building and among the fundraising events lined up is a charity healing event, an open mic night and storytelling activities.

The first is the open mic night for 14-18-year-olds on Friday January 17 from 7.30-9.30pm and is for young musicians who want to show off their talent and skills. The open mic nights will then be held on the third Friday of the month at the Leaf Hall. Musicians and vocalists or bands can just turn up and sign up for a slot on a first come first come first served. Audience members pay £3 on the door.

The second event is a family puppet making session organised by the Buddies Storytelling Group on Tuesday January 21 from 10-11am. The group meets at the same time each week in the old library at the Leaf Hall with experienced nursery teacher Sally Boys.

On Saturday January 25 from 6-10pm, taster sessions of massage, Reiki, readings and numerology will be available with all funds going to the campaign.

The Leaf Hall Café will also be open for light refreshments.
