Brett Bousell, 38, of Decoy Drive, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to driving a Mercedes vehicle on Windsor Way, Polegate, on January 7 while more than twice over the drink drive limit. He gave a breath alcohol reading of 99 microgrammes. The legal limit is 35mg. The court made a community order with an alcohol treatment requirement and a requirement of 120 hours of unpaid work. He was banned from driving for three years.

Steven Elliott, 28, of Avard Crescent, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to driving a Toyota Celica on the A259, at Marina, St Leonards, on December 18, with cannabis in his blood stream. He was fined £120 and banned from driving for one year.

Raymond Powis, 74, of Abbotts Close, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to driving a Nissan vehicle on Cross Levels Way, Eastbourne, on January 28, while over the drink drive limit. He gave a breath alcohol reading of 51 microgrammes. The legal limit is 35mg. He was fined £120 and banned from driving for 14 months.

Stephen Devlin, 53, of Central Avenue, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to three charges of threatening behaviour, two of which were racially aggravated. The offences took place between January 3 and January 11 at Victoria Drive, Eastbourne. The court made a community order and ordered him to pay £170 in compensation. Magistrates also issued a restraining order with terms not to contact the victim or to go within 50 yards of the Mace shop in Victoria Road.

Colin Lipscombe, 53, of Wordsworth Drive, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to making 295 Category A indecent images of children and 21 Category A indecent videos of children. He also pleaded guilty to two further charges of making 688 Category B indecent images of children and 21 Category B videos and to making 144 Category C indecent images of children and 28 Category C indecent videos of children. The offences took place at Market Street, Hailsham, between May 24 and August 10 last year. He was committed to Lewes Crown Court, for sentencing and released on conditional bail. The conditions were not to use any file-sharing computer software and not to seek, or remain in the company of any child under 18.

Daniel Luck, 37, of John Dann Close, Blackboys, Uckfield, pleaded guilty to two charges of assaulting a woman by beating her. The offences took place at Eastbourne on January 12 and 13. The court made a community order and ordered him to pay £50 in compensation. Magistrates also issued a restraining order.

Matthew Skelton, 24, of Tideswell Road, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman by beating. The offence took place at Susans Road, Eastbourne, on December 12. He also pleaded guilty to a further charge of assaulting a man by beating on the same date. The court made a community order with a requirement of 110 hours of unpaid work and ordered him to pay £50 in compensation.

Darren Sands, 38, of Hamsey Close, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to two charges of burglary other than dwelling. He entered New Surrey Court, at Avard Crescent, on November 25 and stole keys, computer equipment and a wall clock. He entered the Youth and Community Centre, on Ocklynge Road, Eastbourne, on August 6. He also pleaded to being in possession of a quantity of cannabis resin at Hamsey Close, Eastbourne, on October 19. He was given a two year conditional discharge and ordered to pay £240 compensation.

February 16:

Stacy Kyme, 31, of Broad Oak Close, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to stealing groceries, worth £92.99 from Morrisons at Eastbourne, on January 12. She also pleaded guilty to stealing nailcare products worth £15.90, from Boots in Eastbourne, on January 29 and a quilt, bag and food and drink items worth £118 from Marks and Spencers at Eastbourne, on January 29. The court made a community order with a requirement of 40 hours of unpaid work and ordered her to pay £55.45 in compensation.

Philip McManus, 35, of Cavendish Place, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to attempting to steal five bottles of alcohol, worth £107, from Sainsburys at Eastbourne, on January 23. He also pleaded guilty to entering Boots, in the Arndale Centre, on January 28 with intent to steal and to stealing a large quantity of DVDs and BluRay films worth £300 from HMV in the Arndale Centre on February 6. The court made a community order with a drug rehabilitation requirement and ordered him to pay £300 in compensation.

Danny Stone, 30, of Balfour Road, Bromley, Kent, pleaded guilty to being in possession of a quantity of cannabis resin and to using threatening behaviour. The offences took place at Eastbourne on January 31. He was fined £250 and given a one year conditional discharge.

Sean Tomlinson, 53, of the Gages, Hailsham, pleaded guilty to driving a Vauxhall Combo on Langney Road, Eastbourne, on December 22, while unfit to drive through drugs. He was fined £120 and banned from driving for 12 months.

February 20:

Cassie Shonk, 24, of St Anne’s Road, Eastbourne, was found guilty of making a false statement to Eastbourne Borough Council in order to gain housing benefit while living with her partner. The court made a community order with a requirement of 80 hours of unpaid work and ordered her to pay £500 in prosecution costs.

Christopher Sales, 37, of Allen Road, Croydon, Surrey, was found guilty of assaulting a woman and causing her actual bodily harm. The offence took place at Eastbourne, on September 2 last year. He was committed to Lewes Crown Court for sentencing and released on bail with a condition not to contact the victim.
