Veteran author of 25 books, Johnnie Johnston has penned a tale that takes him away from his home turf of Eastbourne and into the mean streets of gangster-ridden central London.

When he received an email from a woman who asked him to write her husband’s life story, he was surprised to discover a tale describing what it was like to face up to some of the most feared villains of the time.

Called Top Drawer Villain, the action-packed tale describes the life-story of Eddie Blundell, a man who moved between Borstal, prison, the boxing ring and the city’s tourist sites.

Eddie was involved in developing an ice-cream business combining energy, organisational skill and muscle.

He faced up to some of the most dangerous men in town and even fought off a horde of Hell’s Angels at a pop festival.

Johnnie describes the book as “a very tough story about some very tough guys such as the Kray twins, the Richardson brothers, serial killer John Childs, bent policemen and a host of colourful characters”.

Top Drawer Villain is available from bookshops, Pomegranate Press, 50 Bevernbridge Cottages, South Chailey, BN8 4QB, and the e-book is on Amazon.
