Local solicitors Gaby Hardwicke will continue to sponsor next year’s Ian Gow Cup school public speaking competition.
The firm sponsored the inaugural event last month that was a great success with six schools from the constituency taking part in the competition in memory of the former MP who was murdered by the IRA in 1990.
Eastbourne MP Caroline Ansell has welcomed the news.
She said, “The first competition was a great evening and many thanks should go to Gaby Hardwicke for their initial support and I’m delighted they will sponsor next year’s competition. It’s super that a local firm is so committed to helping young people hone such vital life skills and I’m now sure that the Ian Gow Cup will go from strength to strength.”
David Getty, senior partner at Gaby Hardwicke, said, “The standard of public speaking was extremely high, as was the content of the speeches. If this year’s participants were anything to go by Eastbourne will be very well served in future years by these politicians and lawyers of the future.”
