Horse lovers have been left ‘furious’ after the body of a dead foal was found dumped in a field near Pevensey.
The foal was found in the gateway to a field in Rickney Lane by horse owner Jo Jones, who reported it to police and Wealden District Council on Monday (May 9).
Jo says she believes the foal had been dumped and has raised concerns for the welfare of other animals in the area.
She said, “I am told by some members that they had spotted the same foal – that looked to be dumped – on Saturday and someone has said they have reported it to both the RSPCA and the council. However the foal is still lying there. No one is prepared to help with the situation and I think it is damn right disgusting.”
Jo added that members of the horse community are ‘furious’ that the body had not been removed sooner or that nothing had been done to trace where the dead foal came from.
A spokesman for Wealden District Council said the body was due to be collected this morning (Wednesday, May 11).
The council said it was first reported on Monday and it would have been collected on Tuesday but contractors ran out of space in their vehicle.
