Herstmonceux motorcyclist dies following collision with car


A motorcyclist sadly died following a collision with a car on the A22 at Uckfield yesterday morning (Thursday, July 21).

Police were called to the incident, which occurred between the Copwood and Little Horsted roundabouts, at about 7.54am.

An air ambulance also attended, but the rider of a blue BMW K1600GT – a 59-year-old man from Herstmonceux – was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of a white Mercedes CLS400 – a 48-year-old man from Hove – was uninjured. He was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

No other people were involved in the collision.

Police are appealing for witnesses to contact collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call 101, quoting Operation Silverland.
