TWO RESCUED hedgehogs were caught in the act as they tried to scarper from a wildlife hospital.
The two cheeky little hogs tried to make a great escape from the East Sussex Wildlife Rescue casualty centre in Whitesmith and staff have named them Steve McQueen and Richard Attenborough in homage to the classic P.O.W. film
The secret escape committee was rumbled by volunteers at the centre who captured a photo of one of the hogs getting a helping hand from a fellow escapee.
Trevor Weeks founder of East Sussex WRAS said “Steve McQueen - our hedgehog, not the actor - was originally found at a bus stop in Lewes in a poor condition coughing and suffering from lung worm.
“Richard Attenborough was found curled up partially under a hedge covered in snow at Hailsham during the heavy snow in December.”
The foiled hogs will (hopefully) spend the rest of the winter at the centre before being released when Spring has completely sprung and when temperatures are warmer.
