LOCAL businesses are being invited to enter a team in the Eastbourne Hospitality Association Half Marathon on March 6.
The popular event regularly attracts more than 1,000 entrants and covers a 13-mile course through Princes Park, along the seafront and around Sovereign Harbour.
Businesses, as well as individual athletes, joggers and walkers can sign up now and get training.
The business competition is being promoted by the Eastbourne & District Chamber of Commerce.
President Christina Ewbank said, “The Half Marathon is a fantastic event taking in the town’s lovely seafront and this is a great opportunity for the business community not just to have a great time but also raise money for a wide range of local causes.
“First prize will go to the business team with the first four runners over the finishing line.
“We will also have a prize for the best fancy-dressed business team of at least four runners.”
Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Member for Tourism councillor Neil Stanley said, “The Eastbourne Half Marathon is a very popular event in the Eastbourne sporting calendar and a great way to kick-start those healthy New Year resolutions.
“Raising money for some worthy causes, it makes a fun challenge for local businesses to take on.
“Let the battle of Eastbourne businesses commence.”
Reid+Dean is sponsoring the Eastbourne Half Marathon again in 2011 and as well as promoting the main event.
It is also keen for juniors to take on a mini marathon of their own with a 1km race for under 12s and 2km race for under 17s.
