Tamarra Neill, from Eastbourne, a trainee children’s teacher, was diagnosed with the condition aged ten after experiencing some of the classic symptoms.

She said, “Before I my diagnosis I was always feeling poorly, achey, sick and with a headache. Constantly needing a drink and I didn’t care what it was; which then meant I always needed the toilet. Also people didn’t believe that I was poorly because it was so constant and for a number of years before diagnosis. I decided to run the Brighton Half for Diabetes UK because it is important to continue raising awareness of the condition and funds for research into ways to improve quality of life for people who live with all types of diabetes.”
