Half-marathon challenge

For the third year Kent, Sussex and Surrey based motor retailer group Lifestyle Europe Ltd is entering a team into the Lifestyle Renault Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon – classed as the 5th toughest course in the UK.

Lifestyle Europe are the main sponsor for this the 30th anniversary of the half marathon.

In 2012 ‘Team Lifestyle’ raised more than £10,000, providing funding for a ‘wish list’ for the Pickering Cancer Drop In Centre.

The centre is shortly to undertake building work to improve their facilities and keep up with the increasing demand for their services.

The money raised last year will be well spent in equipping the new treatment rooms and providing comfortable surroundings.

This year the 13½-mile race takes place in and around Tunbridge Wells on February 24.

Team Lifestyle 2013 are taking on this gruelling challenge again with their intrepid team of runners training hard in spite of the arctic conditions that have swept the south east.

Not to be deterred, the team is determined to do its best and raise funds for their friends at the Pickering Cancer Drop in Centre.

Chairman Marc Matthew, running for the third consecutive year, said “For me personally I will do my best to beat my time last year of 1 hour 48 minutes, to add to my personal challenges for 2013.

“We really need your encouragement and generosity to keep focused to run for our fantastic volunteer-run charity.

“If you have not heard of the Pickering Cancer Drop in Centre, they are a fabulous local charity based in the centre of Tunbridge Wells, run entirely by volunteers, who offer help and support to victims of cancer. Not only for those affected but also their families, friends and carers. Staff from Lifestyle and myself visit the centre regularly. We are constantly blown away by the love and support that this centre offers those in need.

“We are all touched by cancer in some way in our lifetimes, and in my own way I want to help.

“I hope that by running these races I can raise some money and make a contribution to keeping the centre running which is a challenge in itself. I am asking you please to support me and the team.

“You can make a donation on our charity web page which is very easy to do and only takes a couple of minutes: www.virginmoneygiving.com/teamlifestyle or send a cheque payable to the Pickering Cancer Drop in Centre to me at Mount Ephraim, Tunbridge Wells, Kent TN4 8AG.

“We would appreciate any support on February 24 – so do come along and cheer for Team Lifestyle.”
