HAILSHAM: Town’s post office is relocating

HAILSHAM Post Office, in the Quintins, is closing and relocating to another site.

It will close next Tuesday (May 24) at 1pm with the new branch in Pipers in Hailsham High Street opening on Thursday May 26 at 9am.

The relocation follows a public consultation, which raised a number of concerns about the space within the new premises but post office bosses say the unit within Pipers will be “carefully integrated” into the shop and ensure there is “adequate space for both Post Office and Retail customers.

The spokesperson said, “Our priority is to safeguard Post Office services to the local community in the longer term.

“The relocation of Hailsham Post Office will allow us to maintain access to Post Office services in Hailsham.

“The new service will offer the same range of Post Office products and services over the same range of opening times. The premises will have level access with a wide automatic door. Internally there will be a low-level serving counter, a low-level writing desk, space for a wheelchair and a hearing loop.

There is a car park adjacent to the nearby shopping centre and roadside parking is available outside the premises.”

During the short closure customers needing Post Office facilities can use branches at Horsebridge Post Office or Polegate Post Office.
