PROBLEMS at public buildings, parks and allotments can be reported around the clock on a 24-hour helpline.
Hailsham Town Council has appealed to residents to make use of the phoneline if urgent repairs are needed at town council-maintained buildings and grounds.
Areas covered include Butts Field, Blacksmiths Copse, South Road, Stroma Gardens, Carpenters Way, Quinnell Drive, Battle Road, Cameron Close, Diplocks, Maurice Thornton, Ersham Road Triangle, Country Park, Western Road Recreation Ground, Citizens’ Advice Bureau; Cricket Pavilion; Square Youth Café/Infopoint; Hailsham Cemetery and allotments in Battle Road and Station Road.
The types of problems include dangerous electrical faults, fire damage, flooding, hazardous structures and major plumbing
Hailsham Town Clerk Liz Jones said, “We hope defects to the properties likely cause injury to residents would never occur, but like all other local authorities, we are prepared to take action to resolve such situations to the best of our ability when they arise.”
The direct access facility is available out of normal working hours (before 9.00am and after 5.00pm and for 24 hours during weekends and bank holidays).
The number to call, if an urgent repair is needed outside of office hours, is 07806 309497. This service is provided to deal with genuine urgent repairs to town council-maintained properties and grounds, which arise when the council offices are closed.
For non-emergencies, residents are advised to call back during office hours on the main reception number, 841702.
Any incidents of anti-social behaviour, vandalism and similar activities should be reported to the police direct on 0845 6070999.
