Hailsham slimmers raise cash for Cancer Research

They are used to losing hundreds of pounds but now kind-hearted slimmers in Hailsham have turned their attention to raising them.

Members of the Hailsham Slimming World groups collected more than 100 bags of clothes they’ve successfully slimmed out of to raise money for Cancer Research UK as part of the national fundraising campaign, the Big Slimming World Clothes Throw.

Jo and Becky, who run the Hailsham groups, encouraged members, friends and families to collect the clothes, shoes and accessories for Hailsham and Eastbourne Cancer Research shops.

Jo said, “This year’s Big Slimming World Clothes Throw event has been a fantastic success and I was overwhelmed by the amount of bags my members managed to collect for Cancer Research UK – they really are amazing.

“Because my members are so sure they’ll never need their ‘big’ clothes again, when I told them about the Big Slimming World Clothes Throw they couldn’t wait to bag them up and donate them to charity.”

Hailsham slimmers meet at Summerheath Hall on Saturdays at 9.30am or at Hailsham Methodist Church at 3.30pm on Wednesdays.

There are also two sessions on Friday at St Mary’s Church in Decoy Drive at 9.15am and 11.15am. Call Emma on 07717 454693.
