HAILSHAM: Shoeboxes bringing joy across Europe

FOR the eighth year running Computers for Charities chairman Simon Rooksby is on his way to eastern Europe with a van full of shoe boxes for the elderly.

Over the past few weeks, people from as far apart as Brayford in Devon and the Shetland Isles - as well as local Sussex churches, firms and individuals - have all been busy preparing the shoe boxes and also donating knitted items, blankets, bedding and medical supplies to the Hailsham-based charity.

The Hailsham base has been a hive of activity from sorting and packing the goods to loading the van.

Simon and his co-driver, Shane, are collecting more boxes from Arles in the south of France and Milan in Italy before heading for special projects in Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria.

The journey can be followed on Simon’s blog: http://corporate.computersforcharities.org/blog.

This ongoing project will be looking for further support next year especially knitted items such as hats, gloves, scarves and socks.

Full details of the scheme can be found on www.computersforcharities.org.
