The water was rerouted and residential homes had access to water again by 9am.

Some businesses based near the leak are still experiencing some water supply issues and South East Water are giving out the free bottles at the Apex Enterprise Park while repairs continue.

Ann Seach, distribution manager at South East Water, said, “We are working hard on repairs to a burst on a six inch water main in Hailsham. We have been able to isolate the burst and have rerouted the water around other parts of our network so that all residential customers had their water supply restored at 9am. Some industrial units near to the site are experiencing no water or low pressure and we have provided alternative water supply for these customers.

“We would like to apologise to our customers for the inconvenience caused an thank them for their patience.”
