Hailsham: Mickey Caira heads up new town development role

REVITALISING Hailsham’s town centre is the top priority of a job created by Hailsham Town Council.

The dedicated officer has been appointed to work alongside councillors and focus on helping to transform the town.

Mickey Caira will lead the town council’s major town revitalisation project as the town’s business enterprise manager.

Mr Caira will continue in his existing role as deputy town clerk whilst carrying out these duties and will be working with the town council’s Business Development Committee and local residents.

Working in conjunction with Wealden District Council, East Sussex County Council and other agencies to promote Hailsham to existing and external business enterprises, a principal task for the business enterprise manager will be to identify ways to attract new businesses to the town. This, in turn, will help create employment opportunities for the future.

The town council has also put plans in motion to kick-start initiatives which will attract increased tourism to the town through redeveloping Hailsham’s identity as a veritable medieval market town.

Councillor Tony Williams, chairman of the town council’s new Business Development Committee, said, “We are delighted to announce the appointment of Mickey Caira as business enterprise manager.

“His involvement will be invaluable in the revitalisation of Hailsham and we are very much looking forward to working with him.

“This is an extremely exciting time for the town council given the challenging town revitalisation plans we are setting out to achieve in the next four years.”
