Local groups were helped to bid for more than £1.6 million last year by 3VA, the council for voluntary services in Eastbourne, Lewes and Wealden.
The organisation lent a hand to groups applying for funding and as a result £758,000 was awarded.
3VA also helped 27 new groups to start up last year, including eight groups in Eastbourne and 12 in Wealden. The groups supported a range of issues, including groups to help young people, art societies, health and wellbeing organisations, patient forums and lots more.
Matthew French from 3VA said, “The 3VA team works closely with community groups and charities, whatever their needs are, gave one-to-one support to 266 groups last year, ran 26 training courses, holds regular network lunches and launched a new cultural forum for Eastbourne.
