Staff from The Be Group cycled more than 180 miles last weekend to raise money for a host of different charities.

The team of cyclists from the insurance claims management company set off from their head office in Eastbourne and rode all the way to the West Country, ending up at the company’s office in Bath.

It took the eight-strong team two days to complete the distance as part of the first annual charity bike ride.

The challenge is part of the company’s wider fundraising activities during 2013 that aims to raise £20,000 for a number of local and national charities, including Diabetes UK, St Wilfrid’s Hospice and The National Autism Society.

The team were sent off on their 180-mile bike ride by Eastbourne MP Stephen Lloyd who said, “I am tremendously impressed that leading Eastbourne company BeValued are doing their charity bike ride to their office in Bath. I know the whole team in Eastbourne of 150 employees have been behind their cyclist colleagues in their fundraising efforts.

“The owner, Colin Bassett, tells me that his original hope for the company in its 20th year was to raise over £20,000 for good causes, and that the figure has been smashed four months before end of year. A really impressive result from a really impressive company.”

Colin Basset, CEO, added, “I am immensely proud of all the staff and honoured that The Be Group has been able to give so much back to the community.”
