A £65,000 community grant scheme for 2015 is now open for projects in Devonshire West.
After two years of planning, the Big Local team has successfully completed the process for the ten year £1million Lottery award and the first instalment is in the bank.
Jane Dubery, the group’s chair, said “Six themes were identified through our consultations for the Devonshire West Big Local grant programme – community, children, young people, older people, multicultural and environment.
“We are looking for proposals that fit these categories, projects that can demonstrate that they really can help to improve the area.”
The £65,000 will be awarded in phases during the year.
The first deadline for applications is March 9 and the Big Local resident-led team will announce the successful bids by the first week of April.
The application pack is downloadable from the website and hard copies are available at 3VA’s reception desk.
“This is such an amazing opportunity to support local activities and local people working towards making our area an even better place to live and work,” said Jane.
“Big Local is all about the community working out what it needs and working out how to do it.”
Devonshire West is about half of the Devonshire ward, underneath the railway line and Whitley Road and from Beamsley Road to Terminus Road. The area was selected for Big Local Lottery award by Local Trust in December 2012.
Big Local, a £200m investment, was launched by the Big Lottery Fund in July 2010 to support 150 small urban and rural communities to come together to make their areas even better places to live.
