Seventeen members of staff at Eastbourne’s Grand Hotel have clocked up 215 years of service spanning between five and 25 years.
Awards for 20 years service went to senior reservationist Joanna Peschier and part-time personnel assistant Joan Prodger. Receiving awards for 15 years’ service were carpenter Stewart Chant, head conference porter Nicholas Gasson, executive head housekeeper Suzanne Murray, senior accounts assistant Susan Rakha and marketing, PR and events co-ordinator Jackie Webley. Other award recipients included Gerald Roser, Head Chef at the Mirabelle Restaurant, who has been at the Grand for ten years.
A special award went to June Pockett, PA to the hotel’s general manager Jonathan Webley, for completing 35 years of service.
The 83 members of staff eligible to receive awards at five year intervals have clocked up an impressive tally of statistics covering a total of 992 years. They include brothers Joseph, Miguel, Martin and Carlos Dantes who are all chefs and have worked at the Grand for 41, 38, 37 and 32 years respectively – 148 years between them.
Mr Webley has been with the hotel for 19 years and his deputy, Jamieson Berriman, for 12. In total the six members of the senior management team have achieved 63 years service.
