Eastbourne Borough Council will be kick starting the new year with a big Sport Eastbourne launch.

On January 2 Hampden Park Sport Centre will host a big ‘Sport Eastbourne’ launch event from 10am-2pm, providing family fun and showcasing just how accessible an active lifestyle in Eastbourne is.

Alongside this, all other council run sports centres; Shinewater Sports and Community Centre, Cavendish School Sports Centre and Eastbourne Sports Park will be providing sporting taster drop-in sessions of many different sports throughout the weekend of January 2to 3.

The purpose of the launch weekend is to give people of all ages and abilities the opportunity not only to participate in some fun and free sports sessions, gym inductions and family friendly activities, but also to show them how affordable the council run facilities are, and how easy it is to create a happier, healthier and more sociable lifestyle in Eastbourne.

Eastbourne Borough Council lead cabinet member for culture, tourism and enterprise, Cllr Margaret Bannister, said, “The new Sport Eastbourne brand is all about encouraging the whole community to get involved with trying something new or maintaining a regular activity.

“The activity could be for health and fitness reasons, or simply as a means of socialising.”

“The council run sports centres have some excellent facilities. The great staff who work there, have a strong passion for helping others to reap the benefits of an active lifestyle.”
