ALLOTMENTEERS young and old gathered for Polegate’s Stud Farm Allotments and Garden Society’s annual show.

The fun day took place at the Lawns, in Hyperion Avenue on the Stud Farm Estate at the tail end of last month and plenty of green-fingered youngsters were on hand to prove the pastime isn’t just for the older generations.

Among the winners at the show were schoolboys Timmy Rendall and Joshua Parish and dozens of fellow young gardeners were on hand, keen to enjoy the stack of stalls on show – which included a raffle, wet sponge throwing, tombola, lucky dips, shove-halfpenny and a host of refreshment stands.

There was also a jumble and garage sale during which residents of the estate opened their doors to passers-by.

Particularly impressive was a scaled-down model of the show itself, made by Luke James.
