A meeting is taking place on Friday (December 7) to explore options to keep the Post Office in Langney Shopping Centre open.

The current Post Office is due to close in January, but discussions are taking place between Post Office Limited, Langney Shopping Centre management, Langney Councillor Alan Shuttleworth and Stephen Lloyd MP, to try to find a way to keep the facility in the Shopping Centre.

Eastbourne Post Office to close

Councillor Shuttleworth said, “I have set up this meeting as the closure of the Post Office will affect so many people, especially the elderly and most vulnerable. More than 5,000 people have signed the petition which was set up by Anna Hooper. We need a permanent solution.”

Cheryl Sitch, a Regional Executive Officer from Post Office Ltd, who is leading the search for a replacement Post Office, will be attending the meeting along with the town’s MP.

The Post Office has said it is currently advertising for someone to run a Langney Post Office and are describing the situation as a ‘temporary’ closure.
