THE FUNERAL of long-standing councillor Roy Martin will be held on June 22.
Cllr Martin died at the age of 86 on May 30 following a short illness. He was a Polegate stalwart and was a serving councillor on both Polegate Town and Wealden District Council at the time of his death and had previously served as an East Sussex County Councillor for many years. Fellow councillors paid tribute to Cllr Martin when he died last month. Polegate MP Norman Baker said, “He was a fantastic and unique character who was much loved in the town and beyond.” His funeral will take place at St John’s Church, Polegate, at noon followed by a private cremation. There will be family flowers only but donations can be made to Cancer Research of Polegate’s Children with Cancer Fund.
