CAT-LOVING locals were feline good after raising more than £700 with a table sale.
The Friends of Eastbourne Adoption Centre were in the Arndale Centre on Saturday and netted £717, which will go towards helping fund the rehoming of unwanted moggies.
Nicki Kemp, spokesman for the Friends, said, “We were trying to raise the profile of Cats Protection as a whole within the Eastbourne area so people know where to go to get their new rescued cat or kitten.
“Our display board gave information about the adoption centre in Marshfoot Lane, Hailsham, and there were some lovely photos of some of the cats that have been homed.
“We were also able to give out lots of car stickers, bookmarks and leaflets to the general public.
“We sold lots of official Cats Protection merchandise including cuddly cats, food bowls, pens, pencils, cards and notepads and Christmas cards, diaries and of course cat and kitten calenders.
“Our wind machine as always was a huge success and everyone from little children to the more mature person came up and had a go. Once you pay your £1 you put your hand in the wind machine and try to grab a ticket. You win either a mouse, kitten or cat depending on the ticket but a prize every time.
“We were manned with volunteers way through the day and I would like to thank everyone who gave up their Saturday to help us raise funds.” She also thanked the management of the Arndale Centre.
