A WEEKEND of free events and activities will be on offer at Eastbourne Armed Forces Weekend.
The event will take place between June 24 and 26 at the Redoubt Fortress on Eastbourne’s seafront.
The annual weekend-long event, which honours Britain’s past, present and future armed forces, coincides with the national Armed Forces Day on the Saturday (June 25).
There will be a cadet mini tattoo between 7.15pm and 9.30pm on Friday (June 24) and then family activities, displays and demonstrations by historical reenactors and Redoubt tours from 10am the next morning.
Both Saturday and Sunday will be packed with musical performances. On Saturday, between noon and 1pm and then 2pm and 3pm The Big Jazz will take to the stage. Hailsham Community College will perform at 1pm and then the 1812 Concert at 7pm to 10pm.
On Sunday (June 26) the Drumhead Church Service and a presentation of veterans’ badges will be held between 9.30am and noon. The service will be followed by a performance from Eastbourne Silver Band between noon and 1pm and then the Clover Sisters at 1pm.
Cadet demonstration and historical reenactor displays will take place between 1.45pm and 2.45pm and the Eastbourne Scottish Pipe Band will play at 3.30pm to 4pm.
Refreshments including hot and cold drinks, sandwiches and cakes will be on sale throughout the weekend.
