A SUCCESSFUL bike marking event by police has prompted another in Eastbourne.

Sussex Police arranged a free bike marking session at Regency Park on Saturday (September 20), and 28 bikes were added to the police register.

Another session has been arranged for Tuesday, October 28, by Eastbourne Police at The Youth Fair in the town.

Marking will be free of charge and will require an email address and proof of identity to complete the registration.

Each bicycle will have a unique marking so that officers, shops and potential purchasers of second-hand bicycles will be able to check within minutes if it is stolen or in the wrong hands.

Officers will be located at the entrance of the Winter Garden, 14 Compton Street, Eastbourne between 11.30am and 2pm.
